Typhon Overview
Typhon is a secure tracking platform that provides an easy way for nursing students to log, track, and manage clinical hours and experiences. This tool also contains some student evaluations and surveys to evaluate the student, clinical site, and preceptor. Please check with your course instructor for additional details about the following evaluations and surveys.

Using Typhon
To request an individual Typhon account or access for a course, please emailumsn-graduateclinicalplacement@med.umich.edu. Be sure to include the following information in your email:
- Course Number
- Course Instructor
- Student Name
- Student Email Address
- Student Anticipated Graduation Date
- Specialty
- Students evaluate preceptors
- Students evaluate sites

Student FAQs
- Where do I log into Typhon?
- How do I add a missing preceptor?
- Log in to your account.
- Go to the Information and Setup page.
- Select Setup Default Choices
- Double-check the drop down menu for your preceptor.
- If you cannot find the preceptor in the dropdown menu, click on the Request Addition link.
- Fill out the Request Addition of a Preceptor form.
- Select Save Data.
- The School of Nursing Graduate Clinical Placement and Compliance, and the Office of Practice and Professional Graduate Programs will add the new preceptor.
- Can HIPAA protected information be entered into Typhon?
- No. Please DO NOT enter HIPAA protected health information (PHI) into the Typhon system.
- How long do I have to enter information into Typhon?
- You have a limited amount of time to enter your logs into the system. We recommend entering your Typhon logs within a day or two of your patient visit. Be proactive and do not procrastinate!
- How can I save time entering information?
- Update your default choices at the beginning of each new course. These defaults auto-populate new case logs which will save you time.
- Does Typhon have an auto-save feature?
- No, Typhon does not have an auto-save feature. Ensure that you select the save option before navigating to another screen.
